Specialized and practical training sessions for professionals from the entire value chain of the tourism sector in the province of Barcelona.
The Challenge
The Barcelona Chamber of Commerce offers the tourism sector in the province of Barcelona a series of workshops or practical sessions to help tourism professionals improve the management of their businesses or destinations.
The Tourism Workshops promoted by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce are aimed at professionals in the sector and, more specifically managers and technical staff of public and private organisations, as well as tourist destinations, with the aim of acquiring techniques to improve their competitive position. They help to learn about practical aspects of different issues that affect the management of the tourism business, such as marketing and online reputation, sustainability, customer management and long etcetera. In some cases, these workshops are carried out with the collaboration and/or sponsorship of other entities (European Projects Office of the Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Management of the Barcelona Provincial Council, Tourism of Barcelona…).
These practical group workshops last between 3 and 4 hours, in the morning or afternoon, and can be online or face-to-face format. The Chamber of Commerce publishes each year the calendar of training courses to be offered during the year, and Pax# has been participating in these workshops as teaching staff or trainers since 2023.

The Process
Every year, the Pax# technical and teaching team sends the training proposal for the coming year to the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce with the themes, content and structure of the different training courses that are planned for the tourism sector, and the name of the person or Pax# teacher who will be running the session. From there, the Chamber of Commerce manages the training offer with the 11 counties that form part of the Barcelona destination, based on the training courses that are most attractive to its network of tourism companies.
Once the destinations are interested in Pax#’s training proposals, the Chamber confirms the dates, the modality (online or face-to-face) and the target destinations. In this way, Pax# trainers can plan the annual calendar considering the dedication to these trainings.
The duration of the training sessions is half a day, 3 hours if they are online, or 4 hours if they are face-to-face.
To prepare the training, Pax# previously prepares a PowerPoint presentation as the main thread of the session, and various dynamics and activities for the working group, which can be accompanied by different online gamification tools such as Kahoot! or MURAL. Often, activities are also prepared in which participants are encouraged to work in working groups. The intention of the teaching team is always to involve the participants in order to make these workshops as entertaining and dynamic as possible, where the consultancy team can share their knowledge with the tourism sector.

Conclusion
Training is a fundamental pillar to promote the strengthening of personal and professional skills, abilities and competences. By training, we keep abreast of the latest trends, acquiring new knowledge and practical tools that we can use in our day-to-day work. The methodologies learned allow us to be more competitive and to move forward.
As tourism experts, at Pax# we design and deliver training content to share our knowledge and know-how in various branches of tourism with professionals in the tourism sector. In this way, we contribute to increasing their knowledge and skills that will be useful in their jobs, and in achieving a more competitive tourism sector that is better prepared to face the challenges posed by tourism activity.
In the same way, through training we also get feedback from the different companies that participate in our training, generating long-term links and connections, and learning from the sharing of good practices.
